U14B League Final
September 8th, 2009U16B Championship
September 8th, 2009Cluduv 2-7 Carrigaline 1-5
Due to bad weather conditions, this match was played in Carrigaline Community School pitch which we were glad to have the use of . Carrigaline opened the scoring with a point from Sarah Barry who battled hard throughout the whole game. This was a tightly contested game with both sides being level with 10 minutes to go. However Cluduv finished the strongest scoring a goal and two points in the last 3 minutes. Ruan Mc Sweeney playing wing back for Carrigaline and Niamh Crowley, half back never gave up and fought hard till the end.

2008 Dinner Dance
January 5th, 2008Carrigaline Camogie Club held a very enjoyable victory dinner last Saturday night in the CarrigCourt Hotel. It was attended by over 200 players and supporters. Sean Og O’Halpín, addressing the assembled as Gaeilge, presented medals to the U16 players who won the county B League and Championship Double in 2007. He reminded the players that there will be days like these, but there will also be other days when they don’t do quite so well. In what was his first time making presentations to female sportspersons, he also emphasised the success that females seem to have over their male counterparts in areas of academia and athletics in this country. He was aided and abetted in his presentations by the recently returned from South America, Nicholas Murphy.
Club Chairman Tom Kiely thanked all those who trained teams in the club during the year. In particular he thanked Marie Scully, Tom Jones and Pat Moran for their preparation of the U16 squad. Also there was praise for the trojan work of Paul Buckley and Angela Egan with the under 15 squad. Adrian O’Meara together with Pat Moran and John Middleton received awards in recognition of their work with the senior squad.
Maria Moran, captain of the Carrigaline u16 team was presented with an award for representing Cork at under 16B in 2007. She very eloquently thanked the team and mentors for their efforts. John Middleton presented Meabh Barry with the prestigious award for U18 player of 2007 and Jan Kiernan with senior player of the year and hoped that 2008 would bring a big effort from the senior squad to bring fresh honours to the club.
Brian Maye announced that the recipient of the Supreme award for 2007 was Ciarán O’Keeffe and the whole floor was on their feet when it was jointly presented by Sean Og and Nicholas. Also in attendance were club president Jackie O’Connor and vice president and former player Agnes O’Reilly. County juvenile board chairperson, Tracey Sheehan and Mary Newman of the senior board congratulated the club and wished the club every success in the future. A great night was enjoyed by all.
We’d also like to especially thank our sponsors for the wonderful prizes they sponsored for our raffle on the night.
2007 AGM Report
December 3rd, 2007The AGM of the Carrigaline Camogie Club was held in the Carrigaline GAA Pavilion on Monday 3rd December last. Tom Kiely opened the meeting before a large attendance and a very busy year was reported at both Senior B and under age level.
At Senior level there was much praise for the management skills of Pat Moran and the team trainers Adrian O’Meara and John Middleton, which led to Carrigaline winning its first championship matches at Senior level, although failing by a whisker, to qualify for a semi-final slot!
Whilst at U16 level Marie Scully led a team to Donegal for a weekend to play in the Pan Celtic competition, where they won the B section and were runners up in the A section in March. For some members it was a case of going back to their roots in the Donegal Gaeltacht! Two U16 teams were entered in competition and the U16 B team, trained by Tom Jones, won the championship by beating Killeagh in the final. It was noted that this was the best under 16 team that the club has produced and there are a number of potential senior players there.
Nine teams in all were entered in under age competition.
Marie Moran captained Carrigdhoun in the final of the inter-divisional blitz, which we narrowly lost.
Two teams were also entered at U14 level, one at B and one at C level and both narrowly missed out on qualification for the knock out stages.

2007 u16B County League Final Report
December 1st, 2007Carrigaline completed the double of Under 16B league and championship at Ovens on Sunday last when they narrowly defeated the team they beat in first round of the championship back last September. This was a very tight, low scoring contest played on a freezing December afternoon.
Ground conditions were good owing to the recent dry weather. Pattie O’ Keeffe opened the scoring with a point from a free in the first minute and Orla Cotter added one from play after 3 mins. Eire Og replied with a point after 8 mins and a goal 2 mins later. Carrig
regained the lead with a Linda Collins palmed goal, after 19 mins.
Maria Moran added a point from a 45. Eire Og narrowed the gap to a
point with one of their own and Pattie O’Keeffe had the last score of the game, just before half time, a point from play.
Eire Og had the advantage of the very slight breeze for the second
half, most of which they dominated, but amazingly there was no score
from either side. Carrig played with 12 of the 15 players in their own
half for most of this period and the fullback line showed up well,
especially Jennifer Foster. Niamh Crowley made at least one vital save
in this period. Maria Moran, Grainne O’Keeffe, Sarah Cotter and Donna
Smyth did great saving while Deirdre O’Leary acted as link person
outside this area.
After the game Tracey Sheehan presented the cup to Carrigaline captain Maria Moran.
Carrigaline: Donna Smyth; Dara O’Sullivan, Jennifer Foster, Ciara
O’ Connell; Sarah Barry, Sarah Cotter, Aine Crowley, Maria Moran,
Grainne O’Keeffe; Pattie O’Keeffe, Orla Cotter, Deirdre O’Leary; Meggan
Scully, Linda Collins, Jennifer O’Shea. Sub. Niamh Crowley (at
half time) for Jen O’Shea.

Kit boost for Carrig girls!
June 6th, 2006The Carrigaline camogie clubs File team received a welcome boost prior to the forthcoming Féile competition with the presentation of new kit bags, jerseys and gear from local sponsors.
They were presented to them at a reception held in the GAA Club in Carrigaline. The occasion also marked the contribution played by last years Féile team who were unlucky not to have progressed into the semi-finals of the tournament. The have, since then, captured the South East title and were duly presented with their medals on the evening.
Coach Brian Maye remarked that this years Féile team would be playing in Watergrasshill on the first day of the Féile, followed by the parade in Cork and the final group of games in Newtownshandrum the following day, with this the second year in-a-row that the Féile tournament was being held in Cork.
He went on the pay tribute to the hard working committee of the camogie club and to the group of coaches who manage the teams, especially Paul Buckley, Elaine Egan, Angela Egan, Tom Jones, Eleanor O’Keeffe and Marie Scully. He added that it was great to see so many parents attend the presentations and called for their support and assistance over the coming year to help out in any way the could to maintain the standard of play and training and cater for the ever increasing numbers in the club.
He also went on to outline the performance of last year Féile team who were a credit to themselves, their club, county and province and thanked Pat Moran for this support of the team last year, and Marie Scully and Noreen Foley for their support in bringing in sponsors for the team.
There were thanks for the efforts of the fundraising committee. Expenses have to be covered and the club has undertaken a number of recent fundraising activities, such as a very successful table quiz and more recently the Philip O’Doherty Memorial Walk which was held along the Crosshaven walkway.
He said “the Féile competition is a huge competition and these are the very best u14 clubs in the country”. Hopes are high that the team will perform well in the tournament and are currently well placed in the City and County League, with four wins.
The team were presented with kit bags and jerseys courtesy of Phelan’s Pharmacy of Carrigaline, Pacific Manufacturing and Michel the Jewellers, with Rosarie O’Leary of Phelans representing the sponsors during the course of the evening. They not only presented the jerseys but the medals to the now u15 team.
