Last Saturday we played Valley Rovers in round 3 of the U11 Carrigdhoun Camogie League(South East) in Brinny GAA Grounds.
It was an outstanding display of Camogie from the Carrig Girls. Unfortunately Valleys were only able to field 13 players on the day our girls came away with a comprehensive victory. The score at half time was 3-1 to no score. Scores coming from Lisa Kiely with 1-1 from 45’s, and with Kelly Williams and Leah Deasy putting a goal each on the score board.
Even though the match was evened up in the second half with the introduction of 2 U12 players for Valley Rovers, Carrigaline still kept the upper hand through 2 Lauren O’Brien goals. We rotated the goalie throughout the game and during her stint between the posts Lauren Bickerstaffe pulled off a fantastic save to leave the final score at 5-1 to 0-0.
Special mention to Sara Healy who played her first game of camogie on Saturday, and also to Doireann Hogan and Kate O’Brien who came with us for the day.
All girls performed fantastically on the day and should be proud of themselves.
The Team: Kelly Williams(1-0), Claire Stack, Aisling Ryle, Molly Ryan, Lisa Kiely(1-1), Leah Deasy(1-0), Roisin O’Connell, Lauren O’Brien(2-0), Caoimhe Hogan, Caitlin Kearney, Caoimhe O’Regan, Doireann Hogan, Lauren Bickerstaffe, Kate O’Brien, Rachel Long, Sara Healy.

Senior Championship
Monday, July 19th, 2010Our Senior team opened their championship campaign against The Glen in wet and miserable conditions in Shanbally. Despite the absence of some key players, it was a closely fought match, with The Glen only really getting on top in the final quarter. It finished on a scoreline of 3-9 to 1-2.
Since the Senior Chamionship is run on a league style format, our girls still have 3 more games in the qualifying stages. This evening they come up against Bishopstown at 7.30pm in the Cork Camogie Grounds at Castle Road, Blackrock. All support would be appreciated.
They also have to play Éire Óg and Killeagh. The dates for these games are Friday 30th July and Tuesday 24th August respectively. Dates and pitches have not yet been arranged.
Congratulations
Thursday, July 8th, 2010Recently Carrigaline Camogie Club has seen several of its underage players donning the red and white jersey to represent Cork. Congratulations to all girls involved. It is a huge achievement to have their skills recognised at this level.
Jackie Meehan, Ellen Twomey, Shelly Collins, Kiera O Leary, Kayleigh O Connor and Lisa Kiely who all made the Cork Primary Games team.
Laura Dwane and Rachel O Shea were both selected for the Cork Colleges team.
Amy Maye and Anna O Keeffe are on the U-15 Development Squad.
Several other players were also called to Cork trials but unfortunately, narrowly missed the cut.
Comórtas Pan Cheilteach
Tuesday, April 13th, 2010This years Pan Celtic was held in Dingle last weekend, April 10th and 11th.
Tom & Kathleen Jones, Siobhan Crowley, Charlie Meehagan, Nuala O Connor and Marie Scully travelled to Kerry along with the U-16 team. We entered the U-16 A section of the competition, where we were drawn against 2 other Cork teams. On Saturday, our girls defeated both Eire Og and Blackrock. This placed them straight into the final on Sunday. Once again Carrigaline faced Eire Og, but unfortunately this time round Eire Og had the upper hand, winning on a scoreline of 2-4 to 1-3, with all Carrigaline scores coming from the hurley of Abbie O Meara.
Well done to all the players who represented the Carrigaline Camogie Club and many thanks to the parents of Laura Dwane, Rachel O Shea, Niamh Malone and Yvonne Drake who all made the journey to support the team at the weekend.
U16B Championship
Tuesday, September 8th, 2009Cluduv 2-7 Carrigaline 1-5
Due to bad weather conditions, this match was played in Carrigaline Community School pitch which we were glad to have the use of . Carrigaline opened the scoring with a point from Sarah Barry who battled hard throughout the whole game. This was a tightly contested game with both sides being level with 10 minutes to go. However Cluduv finished the strongest scoring a goal and two points in the last 3 minutes. Ruan Mc Sweeney playing wing back for Carrigaline and Niamh Crowley, half back never gave up and fought hard till the end.
