SECRETARY'S REPORT by Tom Kiely

A Chara,
It gives me great pleasure as Runai of Cumann Camogaiochta Carrig Ui Leighin to give a brief review of activities of Carrigaline Camogie Club for the 2004 year.
The Club participated in the Divisional Competitions and the County Championships & Leagues. We also took part in the Pan Celtic games in Tralee and a Seven-A-Side Competition in Waterford at Senior B Level.
Success came to the club in 2004 through our U16’s when they captured the U16C (12 a side) Competition by defeating Blarney in the final.
We also had two players on the Carrigdhoun Panel who made history by winning the County Senior Championship for the very first time. The division also reached the Centenary U21 Final but were narrowly beaten by Muskerry.

U14/U15: Unable to field a team at this age due to lack of numbers
U16: Against all the odds this team came up trumps and won the U16 C 12 A Side County when they defeated Blarney in the final on a score line of 5-06 to 3-02 having seen off Barryroe and Na Piarsaigh in the earlier rounds. Well done to the team & mentors Andrew O’Farrell, Eleanor O’Keeffe & Angela Egan.
U18: Did not participate in this competition due to lack of numbers
Junior B: Failed to field a team in the competition, only 10 players turned up for game against Aghabullogue We played a challenge game instead and included some of our senior players to make up a team. We pulled out of this competition due to lack of interest.
Senior B: For the second year in a row we were drawn against Newcestown in the Championship again taking them to a replay, but in the replay we had no answer to a much stronger Newcestown side. In the league we were unsuccessful in the four games we played.

On the 19/09/04 we hired a bus and took a trip to Dublin for the Camogie All Ireland. 40 children and 12 adults went. Great day had by all. We had a very comfortable bus which made the journey easier, and watched a video on the way. Thanks to Dave Crowley for coming up with the sweets and drinks. Thanks to the club also for paying for our food on the way home, that was badly needed after allt hose sweets & crisps!

We also had a very successful skills/fun day which over 60 girls participated.

Our aim in the underage section is to ensure everyone is included and has fun and enjoys themselves while learning the skills of camogie.

On behalf of the underage I would like to thank all the coaches who helped out during the year, we would not be able to function without their help.
