CARRIGALINE
GIRLS SELECTED FOR CORK
Carrigaline
girls were to the fore at the recent Peil na Cailini Cork
trials.
Held at the Brinny grounds near Innishannon recently, the
girls made a very favourable impression on the selectors,
with five out of the six players from the club being selected
for the Cork team.
The trials involved more than 60 girls from national schools
across the country. The girls were divided info teams and
then played against each other in matches.
The selectors wree looking out for skills such as possession,
teamwork and passing skills. They eventually managed to whittle
the group down to two teams who will represent Cork in the
Munster Ladies Football Championship later this month.
The Carrigaline girls chosen for the team were: Maria, Moran,
Grainne O'Keeffe, Donna Smyth, Sarah Cotter and Niamh Furlong
who will no doubt make an even more vaulable impression in
the Cork panel in the future.
