SOUTH EAST ANNUAL INDOOR BLITZ MATCH REPORT

On Saturday 06th March, the U10’s played in the South East Annual Indoor Camogie Blitz in Riverstick. We entered 2 teams in the competition, everyone had a great day out & the standard of camogie was very high for such a young age group, plenty of promising players for the future!!

Carrigaline (A) V Ballygarvan (7-1)
(Alison, Mairead, Orla, Donna, Kerri, Abi and Lisa)
Carrigaline won 7-1. Goals were scored by Mairead (1) & Donna (1) in the first half & in the second half the goals were scored by Orla (2), Abi (2) and Donna (1). This was a fantastic start for the girls!

Carrigaline (B) V Ballygarvan (5-1)
(Claire, Karen, Anna O’Neill, Anna O’Keeffe, Tara, Toni and Kate)
Carrigaline won 5-1. The goal scorers in the first half were Toni (1), Tara (1) and in the second half the goals were scored by Anna O’Keeffe (2) & Karen (1). Also a great start for the B team!

Carrigaline (A) V Valley Rovers (4-2)
Lisa scored 2 goals in the first half, and in the second half Donna Morrissey scored 2 aswell. Valleys managed 2 goals in the second half but a fantastic performance by Alison in goal kept a lot out giving the carrig girls the win!

Carrigaline (B) v Sliabh Rua (7-0)
Toni scored 1 goal in the first half along with the 2 that Anna O’Keeffe got! But Carrigaline ran away with it in the second half with 3 goals from Karen and Toni scoring another. Carrigaline finished 7-0 winners over Sliabh Rua.

This meant by now both teams had reached the semi finals

Carrigaline (A) V Sliabh Rua
This was a fantastic game of indoor camogie with both teams battling it out to the very end, the crowd broke into applause such was the standard and it was great to see it appreciated by the crowd. The outcome of this game was to be decided by a golden goal, cruel but necessary as it would have been impossible to pick a winner. Luckily for Carrigaline we had Donna Morrissey on our team, she belted a rocket from half way giving Carrigaline the win and a place in the final.

Carrigaline (B) V Valley Rovers
Another great game which Carrigaline won convincingly with Anna O’Keeffe scoring 2 goals in the first half and Toni scoring 1 in the second half. This meant Carrigaline had 2 teams in the finals!!

Both Carrigaline teams were to meet Ballinhassig in there respective finals. Ballinhassig had played excellent up to this point also, making them strong opposition.

Carrigaline (A) were up first. Ballinhassig scored very quickly and took the lead. Carrigaline fought bravely back with Donna Morrissey scoring 2 goals but Ballinhassig proved too strong and ran out winners with 5 goals to their credit.

Carrigaline (B) played next, this was another fantastic game of camogie, with evenly matched teams playing against each other this ended in a draw 2-2. Tara & Anna O’Keeffe were our 2 goal scorers. We ended up with a golden goal scenario but unfortunately lady luck was not with us this time and Ballinhassig did to us what we had done to Sliabh Rua and belted one into the net from half way. This was a great result for Carrigaline we had only lost 2 games between the 2 teams. Ballinhassig just had that little bit of extra strength on the day, but all the girls can hold their heads up high as they did their club very proud and will be there to do battle on another day and win the next blitz!!
